If you cannot feel the string or if you think you might be pregnant, call your doctor immediately. For other warning sign, remember "PAINS":

P--period late or no period
A--abdominal pain
I--increased temperature, fever, or chills
N--nasty or foul discharge
S--spotting, unexplained bleeding, unusually heavy or light periods
